Executive Recruiter

Think you can close the deal? Executive recruiters, commonly referred to as ‘headhunters’, are the matchmakers of the workforce. Their job is to recruit high-level executives and specialized professionals to
fill vacancies for clients, or find in-demand employees a higher-paying job somewhere else. The most important role of the executive recruiter is to find the right job opportunity for the right person and be able to make
the match.

Education Requirements:
A university degree or college diploma in business administration, human resources, or psychology is necessary, and completion of a professional development program in personnel administration is usually required. Once you’ve got your degree, certification as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) may be required.

Job Prospects:
There will always be people looking for jobs, and companies looking for employees, so the executive recruitment industry is pretty steady. If you specialize in a specific industry (i.e. automotive, technology, etc), then you are dependent on the strength of your industry to provide you with leads and opportunities.

Earning Power:
Executive recruiters work with a base salary plus commission for any successful matches. The average salary for a Canadian executive recruiter is approx. $50,400. The commission fee depends on your salary and your employer’s policy.
