Pharmacist

Are you a science nut with a passion for helping people? Dispense prescription drugs and provide consultative services to customers and health care providers. A community pharmacist usually works in a retail or hospital environment, while industrial pharmacists participate in the research, development and manufacturing of new pharmaceutical products.

Educational Requirements:

Most schools now offer graduate degrees in Pharmacy, but you will have to be certified by your province’s regulatory body before you can practice professionally.

Job Prospects:

The increasing number of and demand for pharmaceuticals should keep prospects high for the coming years. The need to replace those who retire or move on from the industry is speculated to be higher than the number of new Pharmacy graduates.

Earning Power:

Pharmacists earn a high average salary of $75,000 according to the Ontario Pharmacist Association, but work extended hours on evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
