Before your next trip home to see your parents (or before their trip to visit you), ask them to make a Poverty-Reduction pile for you by submitting a wish list. It could be extra pillows, spare potholders, a set of beer mugs, laundry soap… anything you currently need and they may have but don’t care if they give away. Saves you cash, recycles perfectly good stuff and may free up some space in the garage (or pantry) for the parents. That’s what we call Win Win Win.
